There is a spiritual law beneath Thanksgiving that most people never notice:

Gratitude brings you back into the present moment.

Anxiety pulls you out of it.

Every moment of fear, dread, agitation, or internal scrambling is a retreat from now. We often avoid the present because something in the moment feels threatening. Something stirs restlessness or grief or discomfort, and we try to slip out the side door.

But God is only ever found in the present moment.
